Lizzie’s Lunch supporting TSA
I am writing to thank Sacred by Design for supporting our 10th Lizzie’s Lunch, which was held on Sunday 25 June, 2023 at the Hills Lodge, Castle Hill. Your incredibly generous donation of a Handmade Hummingbird Zuni Inlaid Necklace, Baroque pearl and fresh water pearl necklace plus Sterling silver, pearl, quartz and moonstone earrings with bracelet helped this special event raise over $22,300 for TSA (Tuberous Sclerosis Australia).
This brings the total raised since the first Lizzie’s Lunch in 2014 to almost $157,000. As a token of our appreciation, I have attached a thank you certificate which we hope you will print and display proudly.
Sacred by Design was honoured to be part of this yearly event raising awareness and funds for the TSC Information Service, providing support for people living with tuberous sclerosis throughout Australia.
What is Tuberous Sclerosis?
Tuberous Sclerosis (TSC) causes benign tumours to grow in the various organs of the body, including the brain, heart, kidneys, skin and lungs. Although there is a spectrum of severity and each individual case is different, common symptoms include difficult to control epilepsy, learning and intellectual disabilities, autism, mental health challenges, kidney disease and disfiguring facial growths.
When the required medical, educational and social support is available, TSC can be well managed and families can thrive despite this diagnosis. However for many families, especially those living outside of the major Australian cities, this is not the case. They are unable to see medical specialists with knowledge of the disease. They are unable to find appropriate education support for their child. They are unable to access psychological services or respite.
As the only organisation for Tuberous Sclerosis in Australia, Tuberous Sclerosis Australia undertakes a wide variety of activities to benefit the individuals living with TSC and their families in Australia. These include education, support services, advocacy and research.
Formed in 1981 as the Australasian Tuberous Sclerosis Society (ATSS), we have always been run by volunteers, most of whom have Tuberous Sclerosis (TSC) or someone in their family with TSC. Our members include hundreds of families, in addition to professionals from the medical, caring and education fields. We are a founding member association of Tuberous Sclerosis Complex International (TSCi) and work closely with Tuberous Sclerosis Complex New Zealand.
Their vision is that:
TSC families are empowered, through access to information and support
To achieve this, they focus their activity on connecting TSC families throughout Australia and providing up to date information on TSC management and treatment. When families have access to current information and have a strong support network, they are empowered to strive for the best outcomes for themselves and their TSC affected family member.
Want to help families with TSC?
Their success relies on the generosity of your donations, fundraising and corporate support. They receive no ongoing government funding.
